I found this species which unlike that of post:
http://maltawildplants.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1293

had no red coloration when it jumped/flied. I am sure it is a different species, and would like its ID pls.

Aiolopus thalassinus nearly fully mature but not completely adult!

I think it could be Chorthippus again - the upper part of the thorax (pronotum) looks very alike that in pg71 of the Malt ese countryside book (=chorthippus) in contrats to that of pg62 (Aiolopus) which has a smoother coloration and brighter eyes and head

This is a Glypotobothrus sp.

Recently the genus Chorthippus have been split into Glypotobothrus and Chorthippus. The difference is that the Glypotobothrus species have a widened medial area on the tegminae while the Chorthippus do not.[/img]

Can you tell the species from this photo/ Probably you need details of the hind legs... but this is one of the common locusts around.

Our publications list both g. brunneus and g. mollis. But it's very difficult to distinguish between them. They can be identified from the shape of the outer wing and the song.

Let me find out a bit more on our species and i'll let you know..
