Unknown Grass

Any help on this Poaceae? Shedonorus arundinaceus is my opinion (thank's only to Weber's book) but need confirmation and second opinion. Looks exactly as the background pic of Avena sterilis in the same book (pg65)

schedonorus is a large plant growing in clumps, usually in moist locations.
the grass in the picture looks like a little plant growing solitaryly on sparsely vegetated ground (dry).
so your plant should be gastridium.

if you want to be 100% sure send a picture of the basal leaves or better bring the plant in spring

I see, it is something quite old from prev Spring/summer then. Yes, I will keep an eye on this next spring, though Gastridium is quite frequent and should be no problem to find. I confirm the low growing habit and was not growing in clumps so as you correctly said, Shedonorus arundinaceus is not the species here.

quite frequent but not common in most locations. usually single plants growing here and there. never saw a Gastridium meadow

Well I can tell you that It was near Lapsi area (Siggiewi) if you will revist Malta nest year.
