I have a couple of photos of this allium specimen which originally was with the other Allium Commutatum but on reading more about maltese flora, I have the feeling that this specimen is actually Allium melitense. It has a semi-cylindrical, rather small umbel.

Could it really be Allium melitense?

A. melitense is not considered a good species by some authors. I think with A. commutatum agg you are on the save side.
