Gosh! what is that thing ???? Is that a photo from your 'land' or in the wild??

I know wasps make that paper-like hexagon honey comb but what the honey bees nest nest look like in the wild?

These are the honey bees I cultivate, this happens when there is a new queen in the colony and thus the older one goes out of the hive with a group of bees.

This was taken in my field, couse when the old queen emerges out with it's group it rests on a tree branch so that scout bees go to find an appropriate new place to make it their home. Before they decide I go and provide the with a new home. :D

When is the swarming period in Malta for these bees?
Is it when they start feeling the heat coming?

From the original post of MichaelB (one who has experience with honey making), it is as you said, probably Feb/March, when it gets warmer, longer days and plenty of wild flowers available.
