Before my investigations Dr. Watson, is the purple meant to be there or it is a photographical artifact? Are the claws really purple ?

Looks terrific.
I think it’s a photographical artefact. But no idea what plant.

Why do you say it is rare? Fireworks are very common in Malta

Robcar, fireworks without smoke are rare though :-D

jackpot do the Genus contain other species which are common here in Malta?

well, the colour is somewhat more than in nature where it looks more whitish :wink:
Yes, there are other members of the family, rare and widely distributed in the wild.
