yes, it is a real wild plant of Malta (I would say "frequent", Edwin?). It is only possible (with this pic) to identify the genus, because you need the seeds, which we collected of this plant 1 months later.
I was opting for mint or related family since the fact you can eat it, since these have a common tradition to be used in salads or medicine. The photos is very crap and un-detailed so I cannot evaluate. For instance, I cannot see how many stamens there are, if the sepals are fused, how the style is, how the leaves looks like... so how can I identify such a thing, dear Jackpot!

The leaves and inflorescences hints me to the Valerianella spp. Species would guess carinata, but this mostly depends on the fruit morphology.
PS: As far as I know, we do not eat this plant, so maybe you have more confused u s rather than helped with the edible comment but well we shall try it thanks to this post!
YOU got it! Yes, it is Valerianella eriocarpa (SE of Gharghur). As far as I remember, I had the Valerianella-rosettes in a salad in a restaurant in St. Julians, in Germany we call it Feldsalat, very very popular.

Well, Jackpot, Maltese people do NOT eat this plant (confirmed by the highest autority) and so I have not found it sold here yet. Maybe it is imported just for the tourists. In fact, I am missing it a lot. Tried Fedia instead, but it's no substitute. Will you bring me a package if I get your next quiz right?
