Have just been informed by an Italian friend that the first image is that of a Lesser Emperor and not a Blue Emperor.

Sorry for my late reply - I have missed this post! Great photos, thanks for sharing - I think you have the whole set of the Maltese Odonata, except some recent alien ones.

My Italian friend told me that a new one for Malta is Orthetrum nitidinerve which has been spotted around the Ghadira Nature reserve. I went there a couple of times last month, but was not fortunate enough to see it.
