Broxka ta' Ghawdex.

This thread is mor a confirmation rather than identification from scratch. It is a bushy plant found in disturbed rocky ground in Gozo. Photos below.

Probably is Ononis natrix subsp. ramosissima . The only thing against it is that it was in flowers now (plenty of them, not just one) while this plant usually flowers in Spring (April-May)

Confirmed species or something else ?

it looks like broxka to me allright
also it usually smells fantastic too - like a very churchy / incense smell
about flowering period a bit strange but then i got rosa flowering in december ...and malta IS a funny place no ?

The thing which puzzles me about the flowering in this case is that it was not an exceptional plant which was flowering, but I would say a dozen or so. OK, all from same location, quite sheltered, probably partial sunshine (75%) and same soil habitat.... so maybe all got fooled and started to flower now.... Hope to hear more opinions, though like you wolf, morphologically should be Broxka

yes it is. Flowering time in your region of hundreds of species means only "main flowering period", you always will find a specimen blooming out of the season...
