Some fun for the hard working botanists and green fingered. A sort of posting Quiz and educative posts. N-Joi...

A small tree would be the best definition, though it can be also described as a large shrub.

Family or Genus with an S? I think it is Schinus but actually not quite convinced (4 sepals?)

I missed your question
male and female flowers are borne on separate plants (dioecious) and this male one is an ornamental specimen, but the female is more ornamental (though I have not seen one in Malta yet)

Piny: really never seen? It is everywhere grown in Malta- usually as hedges (Maglio Garden), but rather large one are grown in Ganado Garden (right hand side of the upper entrance).
MWP: there are many many many females, producing the fruits, commonly grown between the males (in the hedges of Maglio). Interestingly, there are also shrubs with both sexes in a flower (I just remember that I had this one in an earlier quiz???)

"The Maglio Gardens is a long and narrow strip where novices of the order were expected to exercise." Is it that near the Graneries (il-Gnien ta' Hdejn il-Fossos) ?
