Nature in Gozo (J.J.Borg, E.Lanfranco, J. Sultana)

Post by MWP admin »

Today's main news is the launch of a book called Nature in Gozo by John J. Borg, Edwin Lanfranco and Joe Sultana. There was a ceremony at Mdina (National Nature Museum) where there were speeches addressed by Hon. George Pullicino, Guido Lanfranco and Joe Sultana. The book is produced by Victor Falzon and published by BirdLife.

The book is composed of 3 categories:

The ecology and habitats of Gozo.
The Flora Section.
The Fauna Section.

In the name of MaltaWildplants.com, I have contributed 27 photographs, many of which are rare to very rare plant species like Silene fruticosa, Asparagus stipularis, Echium sabulicula or endemic species like Ophrys melitensis, Zannichellia melitensis and Alium melitense.

The Fauna section is also very good, lots of birds species present (excellent photographs too) and a large number of insects.
All photographs are of high quality, and the book is really beautiful and handy. It costs only LM6.00 for a nature all rounder field book.

Below are large previews of the book.

I have just bought the book - it really is a very good (and inexpensive) book - congratulations to Birdlife Malta, authors and photographers - you have done an excellent job - photos are really top quality - the book is definitely a must for all those interested in local biodiversity.

Thanks for the feedback robcar (and all others). , Yes, it is a good book and not overpriced - only 15Euros. This is because the editors, photographers, consultants and contributors have not asked any price for this production.

PS: Welcome back on the forum robcar

Yes, it is about time to organise some MWP walk, but seems the forum spirit is a bit low at the moment. As RB can confirm, the kids takes also lot of time and impossible to plan anything decent.

I would like to thank everyone for the comments, and soon you can place photos on MWP (with credits and copyright sign) so as perhaps your photos would be used in such publications.

I hope many of you share my idea of uploading your own photos to the website for certain plant species that lack photos.
