Are they the same?
Are they both Athrocnemum ??? This greener spp is the puzzle of last few weeks. Salicornia ? Sacrocornia ? I make an exception for this post and leave the image large for those tiny details.

That is a very valid explanation rb, just one question:
Have you seen it with your eyes ( eg own propagation) or assuming?
I am asking because there is a very similar spp. called Salicornia, but which is annual, and differs from Athrocnemum from the colour of the leaves. One is more glaucous (forgot which offhand) . There is also a certain Sacrocornia but its presence in Malta is VERY doubtful.
If one have photos of Salicornia fruticosa from Malta, It could help me up.

My Yes meant that Yes they are the same plant, I did not have any idea of the name (from memory).
But have also checked the name for you and Yes also applies to Athrocnemum.
