200cm by 1cm leaves and not Typha

Today I took a break and went out for a walk for some plants and fresh air. I taught that I will find dry stuff, but out of all wonders I found a strange plant that at first glance it looks like a Typha spp.

On a closer inspection, it is not one of the 2 Typhas recorded in Malta (T. domingensis and T. angustifolia). These are described as glabrous, but 'my' plant had tiny, forward-projecting, hyaline spines, especially at the lower sides and lamina's margin.

I wonder if it is a Cyperacea (or a new Typha spp

)

Definitely not Typha, I saw this plant somewhere, I would say 99.9934278% some type of Cyperacea but I am not at all familiar with these plants anyway.

It would be a Cyperaceae. Where did you find this. Could be Carex hispida

This question makes me nostalgically sick. It seems to be another important species (if confirmed) located not far away from where I live, where some 8 years ago it was a natural paradise with natural water pools (remebering myself hunting frogs), underground water streams, agricultural fields and waste places, etc. I am speaking of Qormi (San Gorg). In the area dragonflies still persists and have recentely taken a photo (posted at Insects section).

Today 80% of the area is built up

and an area which was rich in flora is now rich in concrete and globigerina limestone!

Yes, I remember guesses like Carex hispida, and othere interesting taxa from knowledgable people in flora during that time. Actually it is difficult to find these naturalised in the wild near urban areas.

It's very nice and easy to recognise so far it is complete with the plume-like inflorescence. The one in semi-wild was just in leaves and hence confused many!
