Green Spider

I have found a completely green spider, about 15-20mm large roaming on a population of Allium in a field. The green camoflauge colour of the spider makes me think that it does not catch its prey by a cobweb, but it assaults it prey as a predator.

I had to chase it for a long time to get satisfied by a good photo. Anyway, I am no expert in arachnids so maybe some member can identify it for me.

Congratulations!

A green spider probably it is a wolf spider (wolf spider is a group of species of spiders) therefore it hunts (runs) for its prey and so they rely on their good eyesight. The family is Lycosidae. I can tell you they are quite fast. I usually see species of wolf spider running in the fields i don't know their ID yet. This species usually carries a large white egg with the shape of a golf ball.

Erm i don't know the species name.

I'm on pins and needles to see what is the name of the spider.

Is there an arachnologist in the house?

I think it is Micrommata ligurinum, though I dont know if Malta hosts a range of species known as the 'wolf spider'.

The house is devoid from Arachnid experts and even from insects in general, though you are probably the best one here in this sector!!

Ops i screwed up!
Ok the family is Sprassidae (aka Huntseman Spider) so it also hunts for its prey without building its web. Those spiders are very interesting and MPW i really Really am no expert I need to learn more and more about insects.

Oooh i forgot to mention Malta does host the family Lycosidae I only know of one spider that is in the family: Lycosa narbonensis aka Brimba Haddiela.
