I did not say it is not a fruit- it is a fruit in the widest sense, but yes, it is a "bud" with a cover, no Liliaceae!

Fruit in widest sence and only a bit warm???? I never saw a sporangium looking like Santa Claus after a heavy rain, therefore that is too cold too.

what you see are just 2 leaves (I put two pics together), each of them are spatha-like surrounding a "fruit" :D
help: the flower of this species is pretty inconspicuous (in contrast to the fruit)

Have to do something with cute Miranda.... By the way, for all those who got disappointed for not giving her a name directly related to botany, the second name is now given.... see my new quiz soon!

Maybe I am mistaken in this big statement, but since the plant has hair, then we should eliminate out monocots?

Does the species end as mirabilis ?

yes, it is a dicotyl, no Plantaginaceae and nothing to do with mirabilis.
Remember my hint from yesterday:
A big help relating to the title of this quiz "beautifulllll" and my declaration "a fruit in the widest sense": MWP should know what I mean since a few days....
You did not understand this, ok: since few days, Picus is not longer "beautifulllll"

greenhorn, your nickname is absolutely not appropriate (at least not for this forum) :)
A very good, excellent idea, unfortunately not accepted as true :(

Help! I cant make the distinction between beautiful and beautifullll

You are a great botanist / lecturer of botany / parasitologist, but dont change your job to a quiz master :D :D

I stay curious for the name of the plant and connection with Picus etc etc!
