This plant lives now in my courtyard in Cologne and here this year the summer happend in about 20 days of July.
Like You I try to make them grow out of seed or small layers and sometimes I have good luck.
But it is neither a Rosacea nor Aracea.

I think so; normally it is a multiple fruit, but this spezial plant has only one at each centre; and it changes colour when ripe.

Confused now - I believed that the central, column-like structure is the receptacles (sort of) to which fruit is attached to, and the globular structure is the fruit. Each 'socket' represents to a missing or fell off fruit and usually the whole structure is a set of balls (fruit) around the column.

Try to explain better: Normally the infructessence has several stonefruits like Blackberries, but - might be in cause of the bad weather - this one had the same number of flowers like usual, but got only one fruit at every axis.
No fungus.

If I knew, what is nowadays the end of the plant-system!!!
In Your books the Asteraceae, but very often the Orchidaceae.
This one is none of both.

im impressed that you can grow that plant in a German garden. no wonder it produces only one fruit. in Malta it has far too many.

That`s correct; I found in a book, that there are severeal countries, where it is forbidden, to plant it in cause of this fertility.

Yes. And in winter it lives in a light, unheated room together with Oleander and so on.

certainly none of both- but my idea was first an Apiaceae- of corse the Verbenatscheas (hi MWP  ) with Lantana are not as close to the end...
