It is not an ornamental since found in the wild. Regards edibility I dont have a clue but I dont it has a fame for edibility. The flowers have a an onion like taste though.

The colour is deep purple red as shown. This is the same plant which we taught it was romulea back in a post with a pot with several wild plants.

Seems to be troublesome this onion. I hope that I made my research well when I'll reveal the species name. Not 100% sure I am correct. Well I give you some more time.

I will reply any questions to make it easier.

Good luck.

looks similar to Allium sphaerocephalon but for identification in the damned Alliums ( :P ) you need the leaves, bracts etc- otherwise to difficult...
I suppose it is the greenish Allium germanicum after Saturday (today) evening it became a red head... :D :D

I would say congratulations as after a lot of browsing I also conluded that it is A. sphaerocephalon with the runner up being A. scorodoprasum but this do not have linear leaves but instead ones which are more tapering-oblong and flat.

July started rather well for my plant discoveries ! Maybe most of you are inside under the air condition having an icec ream and watching the World Cup.

PS: For confirmation:

The leaves looks like this - the linear ones.

The scape looks like this:
