White Cynoglossum like flower

Post by MWP admin »

Found this photo of a white flower with pinkish or lilac centre. At first it looked a sort of white type of Cynoglossum, creticus but it could not be that. I think it is a borage since early flowers have pink centres and late flowers this turn lilac to pale blue. Maybe other families share this characteristic

could be white Cynoglossum. Other white Boraginaceae in Malta include Lithospermum and Heliotropium but they look different.
Do you have a picture of leaves/ whole plant?

I dont think it is Cynoglossum creticus or albino. I found about 20 plants an no normal coloured Cynoglossum. The flower petals are also too much free whereas the cynoglossum the petals are overlapping and sometimes cup-shaped.

Here are 2 more photos
