I have met this Asteracea plant at Fomm ir-Rih and I was wondering if it is Centaurea melitenis (described uncommon to rare) or C. nicaeensis (described common). Taken 14th April.
C. nicaeensis is described to flower from May.

I agree Robcar, I also read that melitensis has a reduced flower and also I have seen quite a lot of these that surely do not fall as uncommon.
The question arose when I checked a book about maltese flora with illustrations only, and the leaves of niceensis where much more narrow unlike the one I photographed.
Thank you
