rock pool plant

Post by Elatine »

Hi guys,

I have repeatedly come across this plant in the different vernal rock pools on our island. It is like a miniature bamboo, I have searched identification in books but didn't find.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Are you refering to the erect plant with poaceae-like leaves?

Could be something that is not restricted to rockpools, like Cynodon. wait until it flowers. There are books for the identification of grasses in the vegetative stage but they are only for real freaks.

yes admin. I have seen it repeatedly in different rockpools and seems to be growing just in such habitats.
I will try to post another photo.
Thanks a lot.

One expert on rock pool plants is Stephan Mifsud and I gave a quick browse on his small site and actually there is a similar grass-like plant which he also did not identify!

In my opinion it is a normal poaceae plant which is able to survive in water habitats.
