Maltawildplants.com is now considered an online flora of the Maltese islands, portraying more than 900 species of plants found in Maltese habitats. It harbours a forum created in 2005 were memberes discuss topics about the Maltese flora and ID of plants.
I met this plant with long (30cm or more) ensiform leaves. Could we be looking at something interesting??? Only one plant found along my walk at Wied id-Dis.

I have my doubts about Asphodel aestivus (Aa) because Aa have much more slender leaf blades, and much more numerous leaves. The young plants have smaller leaves and much more thin. The plant in the photo has at least a lamina width of 3cm; for Aa it is about 12mm
as far as I can see from the background: it must be a humid/wet site with Arum, Smyrnium and possibly N. tazetta- You should keep an eye on this liliid monster.
No idea what it is but at Ghadira reserve they have leaves that look just the same with a little fence around them. Must be something very rare or very tasty. Keep an eye on it.
I hope I will remember the precise location... When u think I should check for the flowers? There were some fields around so could be something ornamental / agricultural escape ?!?
I have no idea when it might be flowering. If they have it at Ghadira, it should be indigenous but who knows. I see similar leaves here and there in the valleys. when it flowers i will tell you.
