No fungus- it is a vascular plant (we say cormobiont, with roots, leaves and stems).

I answered- no, a primitive plant is not linked with il-Pine (the meaning is that il-Pine is not primitive!)

Serious: what is a PRIMITIVE plant? An algae? I think algaes are not primitive, even the simple ones are not. A bacteria?

Yes Pine, that's my question too?! Anyway I gave up on this honeycomb plant and the detective work.

Some notes regards primitive (or simple) plants from MWP. These are often referred to those plants which:

+ Simple structure
+ Non Vascular
+ Reproduce without the use of seeds
+ Algae, moss, liverworts, club moss and ferns

Maybe Weber or Edwin can tell us more... I would like to increase the educative level of the forum.

Is there any particular time of the year when the plants produce these spore bearing cones?

no flowers, Stephen, but spore bearing cones (robcar) is not bad. Yes, they are best developed in May/June.
