Greenhorn- Never seen before- what a plant. My first impression: A mixture of Ecballium, Hyoscyamus and Echium- I would name it as Eccyamum greenhornensis

Serious: Do you have more pictures? Very interesting! May be Edwin has an idea. EDWIN- where are you? We need your help!!!

My first impression from that thing was: nothing natural like
cecinogenous(???? what I mean, we call Galle), something, what
happens, if the plant is hurted in any way. Hope You dont laugh!
There 4 or 5 photos, but I took the clearest ones.

My questions about this plant:

Greenhorn, was it just one singular plant or you seen numbers of them around?

Can you tell us more details where you took the photo of the plant maybe we go and visit?

My first impressions is either a strange hybrid or an 'exotic' escape. Malta is currentely visited by 1 million +++ tourists every year and god knows what the bring with them.

Well, the photo was taken at 21.6.05 , but to explain where, I can only try:
If You follow the street at the beach between Marsalforn and
Wied il Ghasri, there is, before You come to the way to Reqqa Point,
at the left side a way up to a plateau, the entrance filled up with
beton. If You take that way to the first way left, You come to a little
place and at the end of it You find righthand such a field for nets.
Beside that field in direction to the sea there are 5 or 6 of those plants. In Oct. they were still there, but completely dried and in Dez. I found very small fresh green without typical signes.

i agree with jackpot. Probably a mutated or poisoned Hyoscyamus albus. Some closer up pictures of the green leaves might help.

Since last post I tormented myself with a book about plant-tumors
and another one about mutations by stress, but there was nothing
like this. I hope to find it once more and will make photos with more details.
