This was on a tree and the fruit (unripe) looked like an almond.

Looks like a rose to me, but it was growing wild at Hagar Qim.

Orchids

I came across these orchids this morning and although they look different to each other, they are probably the same species as they were pretty close to each other. Could someone please ID them ? Many thanks.

Orchis conica

Are both of these Orchis conica, even though one is much "whiter" than the other.
Photographed at Penbroke this morning, growing within a few yards of each other.

Sorry but forgot to tell you that the first was around 1cm from tip to tip, while the second had a diameter of just under 1 cm.

No I have not checked genus Phellinus, but will do so, and yes it was growing on a Tamarix, pretty high up in fact and could not photograph it from above, but could see that it was a dark brown.

Unfortunalety these were the only two phots I took.
If I remember correctly it was pretty flat, maybe very slightly convex.

Many thanks. It was slightly smaller that a 10 cent piece and flat on top. Also it was found at marslaforn valley (after the rains, thst is why it is covered in mud) and not at Dwejra as stated. I also noticed that the white balance was wrong in the first phot, so I am posting another which reflects...
