Diplotaxis: Arranged in two ranks or rows, with reference to the placement of seeds in the fruit pod. (Greek origin )

Description, Habitat and Distribution
Habitat in Europe: Ruderal or weed, common in disturbed areas
Preferred habitat in Malta: Fields, waysides, wasteland, piles of stones, besides or through walls
Botanical Description: Perennial, but sometimes flowering in the first year, 20-80 cm, woody at the base. Lower leaves not forming a rosette, petiolate, pinnatipartite with 4-8 segments, glabrous or with some hairs at the margin, foetid when crushed. Petals 7.5-15 mm, sulphur-yellow. Siliqua 20-60 x 1-2.5 mm, borne erect on patent pedicels 1-5 cm; gynophore 0.5-6.5 mm.
Chromosome number: 2n=22
Distributional range: W., S. & C. Europe naturalized or casual elsewhere.
