Could it be an albino/hybrid/var/subsp/forma/... of the yellow flowered Nicotiana glauca ??

Do you remember when is the flower time, maybe I can ask the gardener for you at Romeo romano?

MWP: definitely not albino of Nicotiana and definitely no Iochroma. Unfortunately I`ve never seen the fruit and I even doubt the family, meanwhile.
Flower was in August (could be still in flower). Shrub is located about 50-75m on the left hand side of the entrance, I think almost across a bigger Tetraclinis tree. You can ask the 3 retired fellows where I made the pic!!
Would be great to contact the gardener but I am quite sure that he has no name for this ugly shrub ... :). I remember that there is also a shrub in the Argotti park, behind the big Dracaena draco. Btw: leaves are somewhat smooth and soft hairy, but the shrub is deciduous.

Which entrance becasue there are 3!

a) side entrance
b) entrance beside fountain
c) entrance/exit from orange grove

Assume we are at the central fountain of the garden, and I am looking towards the entrance beside the fountain, and I have a 12hour clock, which hour direction is the shrub (12hr = entrance, 6 = orange groves at the back)

ohhh my goodness, I don`t know. I always come from the main road (from Valletta direction to Mdina) and make a sharp right turn, road is going down and I park soon on the left hand side and enter the park entrance on the right hand side. Sorry, that`s all I remember :)

Ok should be side entrance, beside guardian room on the right when entering in.

well, I remember that at this road there are 2 entrances, and between both, the 3 retired men are sitting and discussing world problems :D :D
At the 3rd entrance in the opposite direction is a beautiful Laurus growing along a houe wall- very nice...

I found the plant and looks like a relative of the Genus Datura. So, yes, I agree with you about Solanaceae family.

Have you excluded / considered Genus solanum? Solanum bonariense have some similarities but it is not that in the photo.
