It was an excellent walk. We started descending into the valley at around 10.30am and we finished at around 4pm.
In the middle of the walk, Stravko appeared out of the blue - just to start discovering the most exciting species.
We descended into the valley first then crossed to the Ta' Cenc side. We continued on this side enjoying the view of a large dam and then we continued on the slopes of Mgarr ix-Xini valley till we ended on the road leading to the bay itself.
Then we started ascending on the Xewkija side of the valley till arriving at Xewkija itself.
Beautiful valley with lots of rare species. I will send pics privately if you wish.

Basically pine gave a good summary. Thanks as I'm not in the mood to write long reports.
Pine, you can submit photos here instead privately - it makes the forum interesting to the others who did not come.
Wolf here are some species we met:
Elatine gussonei
Ranunculus sauniculaefolius
Ophrys speculum
Stachys ocymastrum
Ononis biflora
Convolvulus sicula
Biscutella didyma
Muscari neglectum
Antirrhinum majus hybrid.jpg (Very nice pink)
Antirrhinum_majus albino
Umbilicus horizontalis (unless it was rupestre)
Damasonium bourgiaei
Crassula vaillantii
Crataegus spp.
Vicia leucantha
Cynoglossum creticus
Glebionis segatum
Many different fabacea species impossible to mention all (the common ones mainly except those mentioned above)
Not bad hux! It was a very beautiful event (the best one so far) as I promised. The walk was a balance between exploration, easy walking, short rests, and nice panoramic views over the huge valley. I am sure we lost calories like you! (so you could have come too for that reason)
Very interesting is that there was not much nuissance - some motorbikes near the bay and >>>only<<< 2 bird trappers in the whole costal area, who were rather friendly.

Not offended, but if we start sending private messages to each other the scope of the forum is lost. Don't you think so?
When the site is not working, go to the dos prompt (Start/Run) and type "tracert www.maltawildplants.com" and try to screen capture the screen so as I can report it to my hosting company. You need to play a bit so as to time exactly the snapshot.
See attached pic
For me and many it is working, for some it fails ocassionally, for few it is more problematic. Which ISP do you have? I think maltanet refreshes the DNS cache every 2-weeks so you have to wait few days more.
Anb be sure that your browser option you have the option "refressh every page visit". else it may save the page of the previous non working entry in the cache and displays it to you next time you try instead of fetching the site from the server.

Hi, by any chance did you ever come across Spartium junceum here? I once heard of it being in the valley of Mgarr ix xini but never saw it myself despite having been there many times.

Welcome aboard Lisa. Very glad having someone supporting naturetrust and Cetfree.
We were not much in the valley bed in this walk (still was wet). Nevertheless we have not met Spartium junceum in this event.

| As MWP said we did not descend into the valley itself. Thus we did not meet Spartium junceum or Silene fruticosa. A list of many species is seen on the page 1 of the topic along with some of the photographs.
