Snail from garigue

Post by MWP admin » Sun Oct 28, 2007 2:16 am

Probably this is a post for Pine. I found this snail in a garigue habitat. At first I thought of Eobania vermiculata (Gharkux mara), but after seeing some photos I am not sure about it. !HELP!

first of all this should be in the mollusc section not here!

should be a Cernuella sp. They are difficult to identify without dissecting the mollusc and comparing the anatomical parts!
Both Cernuella caruanae, and Cernuella cisalpina are common in our islands. However I would bet on the Cernuella caruanae.

Ooops!

Thanks Pine, the Genus is fine for such a hard mollusc. Seems to be named after a certain Mr. Caruana
