Ajuga pseudoiva

Post by MWP admin » Tue Oct 17, 2006 8:53 pm

I have some trouble with the species name of this Ajuga.

H.C.Weber, in his latest book Flora of the Maltese islands states that this is Ajuga pseudoiva (syn: Ajuga iva subsp. pseudoiva).

While searching info about the plant, interesting things came out:

In the flora europea by the royal botanical garden, this name is a synonym and it refers to use Ajuga iva instead, given to understand that the yellow flower is just a colour variation of Ajuga iva

The same thing with European Env agency.

My question: What is the species name of this yellow flower?

I am reliably told that the species in the ppicture is ajuga iva subsp pseudoiva ...only found it first time last week - there is just one plant at wied incita as far as I could tell...

it is supposed to be quite common but had never seen it before
